Roy Whiddon is an award-winning Canadian artist/photographer specializing in fine art nudes.Roy took up drawing and painting in the 1980’s to balance a career in Information Technology, acquiring his Visual Arts Certificate from Algonquin College through evening courses. One of his favourite artistic endeavours has always been life drawing, which he continues to practice regularly. He has also been an avid amateur photographer since 1975, shooting a variety of subjects and setting up a home darkroom for black and white images. In 2008, Roy decided to combine his two artistic interests by photographing the nude figure as well as drawing it. The feedback he received from those photographs encouraged him to make this his primary focus in the visual arts. He also finds that figure photography offers a unique mix of artistic, technical and interpersonal challenges that spark his creativity. Currently retired, Roy is able to devote more time and energy to his art. Between 2008 and 2014, he has exhibited in eight solo shows and more than 20 juried or curated group exhibitions.
