The Marketing and Development Coordinator implements the day-to-day communication, marketing and development activities under the direction of the Communications and Development Manager.

The Coordinator ensures the effective delivery of marketing and public relations outreach to audiences, in both official languages, as identified by the marketing and development plan and as set out by the work plan.

The Marketing and Development Coordinator implements a range of activities including the creation of sponsorship materials, fundraising campaigns and donor stewardship programs.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and distribute marketing materials and provide marketing support for Arts Network activities, including: membership, ongoing programming, special projects, collaborations, donor recognition and other initiatives as required
  • Produce reports, sponsorship booklets, and donor solicitation materials as required
  • Ensure a relevant online and social media presence

Activities and Deliverables:

Marketing and Communications Implementation

60% of time

  • Implements annual marketing and communications activities for Arts Network and Articipate Endowment

Operational materials:

  • Update, maintain and follow style guides
  • Produce marketing materials
  • Ensure consistency with corporate templates

Program marketing:

  • Organize and implement project specific marketing action plans, including social media, advertisements, community outreach, e-mail campaigns.
  • Design marketing and other program materials

Online presence:

  • Plan and implement a social media schedule and manage content flow to various channels
  • Ensure all website content is up-to-date
  • Maintain online assets including Arts Network website; overall scheduling of Arts Network Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram accounts
  • Track Articipate and Arts Network Ottawa website analytics and ensure SEO enabled
  • Track social media analytics for sponsors and funders

Media relations:

  • Create and distribute press materials and media kits
  • Maintain ‘News’ section of websites


  • Monitor results of communications activities and makes recommendations for future
  • Monitor success indicators, audience feedback and uptake from media

Outreach and Fund Development

30% of time

  • Supports and implements annual fundraising campaigns
  • Supports the preparation of membership and fundraising materials such as design of brochures, letter templates, email communications, renewal reminders, and others
  • Prepares and/or participates in the preparation of funding proposals and progress report(s) as required
  • Monitors progress and compliance with funding providers ensuring that all recognition reporting requirements are adhered to
  • Assist with the development of sponsorship materials
  • Engages in ongoing research to identify corporate sponsorship opportunities

Donor and sponsor recognition:

  • Fulfill sponsor recognition obligations and maintain visibility report statistics
  • Produce donor recognition messaging and posts
  • Implement marketing and recognition strategies
  • Implements donor stewardship for Arts Network and Articipate Endowment Fund


5% of time

  • Assist with maintaining and updating databases required
  • Coordinates records management system for marketing and development


Education / Experience Requirements :

  • University Degree or College Diploma, or equivalent work experience in marketing and/or communications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Communication skills in both English and French (oral and written)
  • Ability to use and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Ability to produce marketing materials, from generating a creative brief to the final product
  • Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks to timely and effective completion
  • Teamwork and relationship building skills
  • Demonstrated experience writing on-line for websites and blogs, newsletters, media releases and brochures
  • Ability to conduct surveys and provide analysis
  • Proficient with social media, engagement analytics, and knowing your audience
  • Organizational skills
  • People skills and the ability to work with staff, volunteers, press, donors, and Arts Network members
  • Ability to adhere to deadlines and budgets


Salary range: $37,000–$42,000 depending on experience

Professional development budget available for staff.
