Who are the Fools?
Since 1990, a Company of Fools has been delighting audiences across Ottawa & Eastern Ontario. We are a professional theatre company and registered charity best known for our annual Torchlight Shakespeare summer tour which goes to a different outdoor venue each night and attracts an audience of about 10,000 people (and several family pets) for a pay-what-you-can experience. We work hard to bring high quality, entertaining and thoughtful theatre directly to communities – and we have a very loyal following. We also have a growing outreach program with schools and nonprofits serving vulnerable communities (visit www.fools.ca).

Position Summary:
What does the GM of a Company of Fools do? You will be responsible for running business operations. Together with our Artistic Director you will manage the organization collaboratively, with you focusing on business issues and the AD looking after artistic content. We are looking for someone to help re-launch us after COVID into a dynamic phase of new growth with an ambitious 2022 season.

Position Specifics:
What exactly are the day-to-day tasks? The GM oversees all finance, accounting, budget, invoicing, bill payments, banking, contract, insurance and business partnership matters. There is overlap with the AD in some areas such as Marketing, Donor management, Grants management and Production planning, so being able to work in a respectful, collaborative team environment is critical. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with numbers, creative people, community groups, and business issues in the arts all to bring a show to fruition while maintaining financial responsibility.
