The more it grows, the more it gives!

The ARTicipate Endowment Fund was established in 2007 by Arts Network Ottawa to support artistic programming in professional spaces at the Shenkman Arts Centre. Arts Network Ottawa is the steward of the $5,000,000 fund and is responsible for its promotion, administration and sustainability.

With the generous support of many donors and the Province of Ontario, since inception, over $500,000 in interest has been disbursed through 130 grants to local artists and arts organizations. This includes the Centre’s five Resident Arts Partners: Ottawa School of Art – Orléans Campus, Gloucester Pottery School, Mouvement d’implication francophone d’Orléans (MIFO), Ottawa School of Theatre and Arts Network Ottawa.

Resident Arts Partners and project grant recipients can use this funding toward their rehearsal and production costs, to enhance their creative team, to create original work or to support promotional efforts. Each season, Ottawa residents can experience a variety of artistic performances and exhibits thanks to this Fund. ARTicipate Grant projects offer spectators dance, music, theatre, visual and media arts.

“With an ARTicipate grant, I had my very first solo exhibition – a milestone that has been decades in the making. I used the funds to prepare and frame paintings and photographs for formal exhibition, and print special postcards to advertise the show,” says Chinh Nguyen, visual and media arts artist and 2016-17 ARTicipate Grant recipient.
